Remove your account and your data
You delete your account yourself in the app, in four taps. If the app is no longer on your device, we do it at your request. Below you can read how it works, what disappears, what stays and how long it takes.
In the app
- 1
Open Settings
At the bottom of the app, tap Me, on the left of the strip, and choose Settings.
- 2
Open "Delete account"
That is the last block on the screen. It first says what will disappear.
- 3
Type DELETE
Exactly that word, in capitals. A button this close to Log out should never cost you your account by accident.
- 4
Tap "Delete my account"
That is it. There is no cooling-off period and no way back; you are logged out straight away.
What disappears
Everything linked to your account goes at the same moment:
- Your email address and your password.
- Your profile: your name, your hometown, your bio, your instruments and your genres.
- Your profile photo.
- Your sign-ups for jam sessions, and the instrument you chose for them.
- The devices you received notifications on, and the notifications themselves.
- The consents you gave, with the date and the version.
- If you manage a venue you are the only owner of and it has no published jam sessions, that venue goes too.
One exception. If you are the last owner of a venue with published jam sessions, the app refuses. First hand the venue over to another owner, or close it. Musicians have counted on those nights.
What stays, and why
Five things survive the deletion. For the first four, the record stays but the link to you is removed: your name is no longer on it.
- A decision a moderator once made about your account, with the reason, but without any link to you.
- Otherwise someone who misbehaves could erase the traces by closing the account.
- A report you made about someone else, without your name on it.
- That report is about the other person and should not lapse because you leave.
- Songs you suggested on a night, without your name on them.
- The setlist of that night belongs to the room, not to one musician.
- A venue someone else co-owns, with its agenda.
- Musicians have signed up for those nights; they are not yours alone.
- The server's daily backup, for fourteen days at most.
- After that it is overwritten and nothing of you can be found there either.
How long it takes
If you delete it yourself in the app, it is done at once. There is no cooling-off period and no queue: you are logged out at the same moment and your account no longer exists.
If you request it through the help form, we start a 24-hour clock. While it runs you can still stop it yourself by logging in; under Settings you will then find “Not after all, keep my account”. After that the server deletes the account automatically, within ten minutes.
If you no longer have the app
Go to the help form and tell us there that you want your account deleted. Mention the email address you log in with: that is how we recognise which account you mean, and we don't have anything else from you. We do not ask for a copy of an ID.
Change your mind within those 24 hours? Get the app back, log in and tap “Not after all, keep my account” under Settings. Only that button stops the clock; logging in on this site does not.
What we keep about you and why is in the privacy policy. If we cannot sort it out together, you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
